Note for Teachers and Parents According to the National Curriculum Framework (NCF-2005), when the national textbook was being written, the group working to produce the book found it difficult to translate its objectives. The authors want to share their experiences about a few issues discussed during this process. The child looks at the environment around him as a whole. They do not divide any issue into "science" and "social science". So it became necessary to think of compiling this book instead of two different sections.
Instead of working on thematic issues, it was decided to develop the curriculum itself by establishing interrelationships with each other. The textbook covers all the aspects in physical, social and cultural contexts in such a way that the child has a choice. The challenge of writing at the national level was to reflect the multicultural dimensions of different classrooms.
It was imperative that the child give equal importance to every community, culture and way of life. When the book was written, the big question was who is the child we are addressing, whether it is a child from a big city or a child from a slum school, a child from a small town, a village school or a remote school in a mountainous region. Do? It needs to face diversity like caste, class, culture, religion, language, geographical situation etc.
The book covers some of these issues, which the teacher must also present sensitively in his own style. At the center of the book's content is the child, which gives him ample opportunity for innovation. Attempts have been made to consciously avoid gossip and descriptions and definitions. Giving information is easy, but the real challenge is to give the child opportunities to learn where he can sing, nurture his curiosity, study through activity, ask questions, do experiments, and so on. In the same context, descriptions, poems, stories, puzzles, jigsaw puzzles, humorous stories, etc. have been used to keep the child working with the book.
To make the child sensitive, he has used stories and occasions with which he can easily relate. The language of the book is kept in the form of general conversation rather than formal. It is important that children take an active part in creating knowledge. The activities given in the book require gardens, farms, reservoirs for children to observe,
