WhatsApp has released biometric authentication feature for Android smartphones. This feature was previously offered for iOS where the user gets the option to secure WhatsApp with face id. This feature was also given earlier in the iPhone which has Touch ID.
WhatsApp said that the Android smartphone which has the fingerprint scanner provided will have the feature of locking WhatsApp with the fingerprint scanner. It has to be manually turned on by the user. You can update your WhatsApp app.
WhatsApp stated in its official blogpost that earlier this year, the company had supported Touch ID and Face ID for the iPhone, so that users could be given extra layer security. Now the authentication under it is being launched for Android smartphones.
This is how an Android user can set a fingerprint lock.
Open WhatsApp and then tap on Settings. Select Account there, Fingerprint lock option will be available under Privacy option. From there, turn it on and confirm. After that, fingerprint authentication will be required to open WhatsApp.
